A special CONGRATULATIONS to DADE--Our Grand Prize Winner!  Dade won a FAMILY SEASON PASS to CAPE SPLASH!

The Great American Race is coming to Cape Girardeau on June 25th!  Each year the race (comprised of classic cars--manufactured prior to 1969) crosses the country making stops along the way.  This year, The Race will be starting in St. Paul, Minnesota on its journey to Mobile, AL  It crosses the Mississippi River multiple times before ending on June 30th and we are please Cape Girardeau will be a stop on this tour.

The cars will enter Cape at Kingshighway and proceed down Broadway at one minute intervals towards the river.  Cars will park at various locations to give us all a chance to check them out!  Pit Stops along the way will provide snacks, beverages, and giveways.

This year, Ruopp & Ruopp will be a Pit Stop and we are pleased to open our Broadway location to our patients as a great location to enjoy the show.  We are even coordinating our Patient Appreciation Day around the event so you don't have to rush around trying to get supper--just show up & we'll feed you and the family!

As we all get excited about the upcoming three day weekend & official kickoff to Summer, we want to remind you to BE CAREFUL!

Be Safe & Have Fun!

And most importantly, don't forget the meaning of this holiday!  Let's take time to say Thank You to our Military and to remember those who have given their lives for us!

Hot on the heels of the Missouri Mission of Mercy's free dental clinic last weekend, our office is partnering with The Oral Cancer Foundation to offer FREE oral cancer screenings on Thursday, May 16thfrom 2:30-5:00 PM!

Oral cancer is one of the deadliest types of cancer because it is so often detected too late, making the five year survival rate less than 1 in 2 diagnosed.  However--caught early--the five year survival rates jumps to 80%!

Although the most common risk factor for oral cancer is tobacco and/or alcohol use, HPV16 is the fastest growing risk factor of this disease.  HPV16 (human papilloma virus version 16 which is also responsible for 95% of cervical cancers in women) is responsible for increasing numbers of young, non-smokers being diagnosed with oral cancer!

Several risk factors for oral cancer can be controlled by you such as sun exposure, tobacco/alcohol use, and being sure to maintain a well balanced diet rich in fruits & vegetables.  While others such as HPV16, age, ethnicity, socio-economic issues, recurrence, and gender we have little control.  For these reasons, early detection is key!  Take advantage of your FREE oral cancer screening!  It just may save your life!

This event is open to the public as a free public service.  The exam takes approximately 5 minutes.  You do not have to be a patient of our practice to attend.  There is no need to make an appointment; walk-ins are welcome & will be seen in a first come, first served manner.  However, you can call our office to reserve a screening appointment if you prefer at 573.334.8884.

Hundreds of Dental Professionals provide FREE care to Thousands!

Saturday, May 4, 2013 concluded the second ever Missouri Mission of Mercy (MoMOM).  Preliminary estimates indicate approximately 1,775 adults & children received free dental care!  The two day event brought volunteers from more than 8 hours away and patients drove hours and even camped out to be part of this event.

(Photo)Final numbers are still being tallied, but well over 2000 extractions, 1500 fillings, and 600 professional dental cleanings were provided to anyone who braved the weather and had the patience to wait for treatment.  Total that is nearly $1,000,000 in FREE dental care provided to patients right here in Southeast Missouri!

A special thank you to all the dental professionals & lay volunteers who donated their time & all the patients who waited for several hours with us while still maintaining patience!  We appreciate you all!
